The Fall 2022 – Winter 2023 pediatric respiratory and medical surge emergency significantly impacted pediatric providers across the Nation. This medical surge was compounded by staffing and supply shortfalls, and extended into many community hospitals for which transfers to pediatric specialty care were delayed or unavailable.
To provide support for impacted healthcare providers, the PPN and its partner organizations developed a number of resources, including a weekly situational awareness call series, prehospital resource guidance, pediatric surge recommendations and resources, and antiviral medication shortage guidance. To capture the strengths, areas for improvement, and to develop an improvement action plan, PPN developed and is sharing our After Action Report that provides an assessment of PPNs response during this challenging medical surge.
