The Pediatric Pandemic Network is proud to announce the launch of its new podcast, “Ready. Prep. Go!” The podcast will feature compelling conversations with emergency, disaster and preparedness subject matter experts and those on the frontlines. Guests share their transformational stories and invaluable lessons learned from their experiences.
Children have unique physiological and developmental characteristics, making them particularly vulnerable in emergencies, disasters, and global health threats. Too often, though, disaster preparedness and response efforts overlook children’s needs. These discussions about key concepts in disaster preparedness and everyday readiness are aimed at inspiring collaboration between emergency professionals and communities, informing best practices, and supporting caregivers who want to be ready to protect their families.
The host of the podcast is Dr. Dennis Ren, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at one of PPN’s hub sites, Children’s National Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C.
The first episode, “Origins,” will be released on Tuesday, February 27 and features guest Dr. Joelle Simpson, MPH. Dr. Simpson is the Medical Director for Emergency Preparedness at Children’s National Health System. In this role, Joelle provides strategic leadership for Children’s National’s disaster preparedness, response, and community outreach efforts. She discusses her experience during 9/11 as a medical student at The George Washington University and her contribution to public health efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The podcast will be available on the Pediatric Pandemic Network website and wherever you get your podcasts.
