New Training: Caring for Children with Medical Complexity (CMC) at Home

The Pediatric Pandemic Network has launched a new training to support those caring for children with medical complexity – particularly in home settings. Whether you’re a home health nurse, EMS provider, or caregiver, these modules offer an introductory look at working confidently and collaboratively during the hospital-to-home transition.

  • Collaborate with health care teams and families in high-pressure situations 

What’s Inside the Training

Module 1: Introduction
Understand the definitions of CMC and Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN), and the importance of education, planning, and teamwork. 

Module 2: First Day Home
Understand the importance of preparing for the first 24 hours, differentiate home and hospital care, learn key home care steps for CMC, and identify priority contacts like 911. 

Module 3: Emergency Readiness
Describe the importance and key components of emergency readiness, demonstrate how to call 911 and communicate critical information, and explain the role of EMS in emergencies for CMC and home visits.
